Sam Elliott- cowboy, actor, hunk

Samuel Pack Elliott, or known professionally as Sam Elliott, was born on August 9, 1944, in Sacramento, California, the son of Glynn Mamie, a physical education instructor and a high school teacher, and Henry Nelson Elliott (1911-1966), who worked for the Interior Department as a raptor control specialist.  American actor Sam Elliott grew up in Oregon, where he spent time exploring outdoors and watching movies.  Elliott made his feature film debut in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969).

Going strong at 70 years old, American actor Sam Elliott earned an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in A Star Is Born (2018). 2018 was a monumental year for Elliot, who earned critical acclaim for his performance in A Star Is Born - the role which earned him his first, much-anticipated Oscar nomination the next year. The next year, Elliott was cast in the musical drama A Star is Born (2018), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, a Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, and won the National Board of Review. The following year, Elliott co-starred in A Star Is Born (2018), where he played Bobby Maine, Bradley Coopers older stepbrother.

In 2009, Elliott had a supporting role in Up In The Air, in which he played a senior pilot for US Airways. Throughout the 1960s, Elliott established himself as a character actor. Elliott began his career as a character actor; his looks, voice, and physicality fit Westerns well.

The year of 1974 was very productive for the actor, as he appeared in a number of TV series, such as Doc Elliot, Hawaii Five-O, The Manhunter, and The Streets of San Francisco. American actor Sam Elliott not only turned down the typical leading man roles, he began maintaining what became his trademark long hair and handlebar moustache (which, he said, took months,to grow back when it was cut for the part). With Sam Elliotts  has always been know for his physique, impressive mustache, and deep, raspy voice, he certainly looks like a real-life version of the cowboy. Played was more than a part, as he was in fact part of California Air National Guards 163rd Airlift Wing based in the Channel Islands.

Sam Elliott might not have the awards package in a long acting career, but his performances certainly earned him multiple nominations including one Oscar, two Golden Globes, and two Emmys. Although born in California, Sam has always identified himself as Texan, since both of his parents were born in the Lone Star State (and the families roots go all the way back to the Texas Revolution of 1835).

His 1995 performance in Buffalo Girl also earned him a second Golden Globe nomination in the same category. For his performance in Wild Bill Hickok, Elliott was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor, Limited Series or Motion Picture. The versatile actor has also done voiceover work for films such as The Good Dinosaur (2015) and Rock Dog (2016).

Well past his prime, Elliott is still very active as an actor. In the 2003 film The Incredible Hulk, Sam Elliott plays General Thaddeus Ross, an American military officer and father to Betty Ross, Hulks love interest, played by Jennifer Connelly. While we have seen Sam Elliott act in a lot of iconic Hollywood movies, seeing him at halftime at the Super Bowl was likely a big surprise to a lot of his fans, especially when he did a dance-off with Lil Nas X to Old Town Road, which was one of 2019s hottest songs, to promote a Cool Ranch Doritos commercial. Katharine Ross sort of felt like this was a big part, so she called back Sams agent and told him that she was going to bring Sam back on short notice.
