I have some very tender memories of the Hussey/Whiting/Zeffirelli Romeo and Juliet, a film I saw (like so many of my generation) in my teens while studying the play, so I was very happy to read Olivia Hussey’s stories about the making of the Hussey/Whiting/Zeffirelli Romeo and Juliet, when Olivia Hussey was herself a mere teenager. That is an entirely appropriate explanation as to why she was never able to achieve that final break into the upper ranks of movie stars. [Sources: 11]

Hussey was born Olivia Osuna on April 17, 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the first child of Argentine opera singer Andres Osuna (who performed under the stage name of Osvaldo Ribo) and Joy (nee Hussey ), a legal secretary originally from England. Actress Olivia Hussey had another child, 35-year-old Max, with her second husband, Japanese singer Akira Fuse, before meeting her now-29-year-old husband, rocker David Glen Eisley, with whom she has a daughter, India, 24. As a young girl, the 16-year-old protagonist in director Franco Zeffirellis film left Buenos Aires for London with her mother and siblings, not realizing that she would never see her father again, until she became so famous the Argentine government flew her home so she could embrace her grandmother on live television. Olivia Hussey had aspirations of becoming an actress from an early age, studying drama at the Italia Conti Theatre School in London for five years. [Sources: 0, 2, 3, 4]
